Yes. WONDR Experience in Amsterdam Noord is the largest interactive photo experience in the city: 1,500 m² and fourteen rooms built to be touched, jumped in and photographed, including a ball pit, a marshmallow pool, a confetti shower and glitter karaoke booths. It is at Meeuwenlaan 88, one metro stop from Central Station.
The phrase “selfie museum” undersells it. Nothing is behind glass and there is nothing to read. You go in, you do things, and the photos are a by-product of that. This page explains what it is, what it costs to plan for and how it compares to a museum visit.
What is WONDR Experience exactly?
Fourteen interactive rooms designed by local artists and designers, connected by a self-guided route. Each room is a different world: a ball pit the venue describes as the largest in Europe, a pink inflatable castle, a kaleidoscope of lights, karaoke booths, a confetti shower. The SpongeBob Special, a set of SpongeBob themed rooms, is included with every regular ticket. Hosts are present to help with photos and questions.
How is it different from a museum?
You are allowed to touch everything. There are no labels and no audio guide. A visit takes about 90 minutes and you set your own pace. It works for adults of all ages, and children are welcome accompanied by an adult. The Museumkaart is not accepted, because it is not a museum.
Are photos included?
Digital photos taken by the venue are free and sent to you after the visit. Your own phone is welcome everywhere. Hosts will take pictures of you in the rooms if you ask.
Is it worth it if I am not into photos?
The rooms stand on their own. The ball pit and the marshmallow pool are physical experiences before they are visual ones. People who come for a friend’s photos tend to end up in the ball pit anyway.
Where is it and how do I get there?
Meeuwenlaan 88 in Amsterdam Noord. Take the metro from Central Station one stop to Noorderpark, then walk about five minutes. Parking nearby averages €1.60 per hour.
Is there more than one experience on site?
Yes. Barbie: The Dream Experience is in the same building, with twelve interactive zones and a life-size DreamHouse. It has its own ticket. Pink Beach, an indoor beach bar and brunch spot, is also on site and can be booked without visiting WONDR.
