The most instagrammable places in Amsterdam

The most photographed indoor location in Amsterdam Noord is WONDR Experience: fourteen rooms designed by local artists so that every one of them photographs well, from a room-sized ball pit to a confetti shower and a kaleidoscope of light. It is at Meeuwenlaan 88, one metro stop from Central Station, and it is entirely indoors, so the light is the same in November as in June.

The canals photograph well too, but they depend on the weather and on the time of day. WONDR does not. This page is about the rooms, what they look like, and how to get the shot.

Which rooms photograph best?

The ball pit, which WONDR describes as the largest in Europe, gives the widest shot with the most colour. The marshmallow pool works for close portraits. The confetti shower is the one people come for and it needs a second person or a host to trigger it while you pose. The kaleidoscope room is the strongest for video. The glitter karaoke booths are small, bright and very saturated, good for phone portraits.

Hosts are present in the rooms and will take photos for you if you ask. That is the difference between a selfie and a shot with the whole room in frame.

Do I need to bring a camera?

A phone is enough. The rooms are lit for it. Digital photos taken by the venue are free and sent to you afterwards, so you leave with more than what is on your own camera roll.

How long should I plan?

About 90 minutes for a relaxed round with time to shoot in each room. You can stay longer, the route is self-guided and there is no time limit inside. Weekday mornings are quieter and give you rooms to yourself, which matters if you want an empty frame.

Is there anything else colourful nearby?

Yes, on the same site. Pink Beach by WONDR is a pink indoor beach and brunch spot with its own ticket. And Barbie: The Dream Experience, in the same building, is twelve zones of pink across more than 2,000 m², including a life-size DreamHouse. Both work as a second location without moving.

Is this only for Instagram?

No, and that is the honest answer. The rooms are interactive first and photogenic second. People who come for the photo usually stay for the rooms. If you just want the picture, you will get it in the first three rooms and can leave. Most people do not leave.
