For a group of adults who want to do something together rather than sit across a table, WONDR Experience in Amsterdam Noord is the active option: fourteen interactive rooms, a room-sized ball pit, a confetti shower and glitter karaoke booths, at Meeuwenlaan 88, one metro stop from Central Station.
It works for a birthday, a reunion or a Saturday with nothing planned. The point is that everyone participates. Nobody watches.
What do adults actually do there?
The same things children do, which is the point. You sink into a ball pit the venue describes as the largest in Europe. You stand under a confetti shower. You sing in a karaoke booth with three friends. You get lost in a kaleidoscope of light. The route is self-guided across 1,500 m² and there is no time limit. WONDR is built for adults of all ages.
Is there an adult birthday package?
Yes. WONDR lists a Birthday at WONDR package and a bachelorette package on its packages page, with a booking form handled by the party planners. Barbie: The Dream Experience, in the same building, runs adults-only sessions on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 17:00 with a welcome drink included.
Where do we eat and drink afterwards?
Pink Beach by WONDR is on the same site: a pink indoor beach bar and brunch spot with its own ticket. It opens at 11:00 on weekdays and 10:00 at the weekend, closing at 20:00 from Sunday to Thursday and 20:30 on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen closes at 18:30 most days and at 19:00 on Friday and Saturday. Groups of more than eight book through Customer Service. Gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and halal options are on the menu.
How long does the whole thing take?
About 90 minutes inside WONDR, longer if the ball pit wins. Add 90 minutes for Barbie if you want two experiences. Then Pink Beach for as long as the table lasts, which is an hour and a half and usually extendable.
How do we get there?
Metro from Central Station one stop to Noorderpark, then five minutes on foot to Meeuwenlaan 88. Parking in the neighbourhood averages €1.60 per hour.
